Installation Instructions

  •
  •
  • 1. Measure the door thickness where the window will be installed. The thickness of the window should measure 1/16" - 1/8" less than the door thickness. This will create a gap (1/16" - 1/8") between the glass and the back frame (fig. 1). The gap is needed to allow the caulking to fully compress during installation without putting excess tension the glass.
  • 2. Tighten the screws snugly but do not over-tighten, this will cause breakage of the frame and/or glass; which can occur weeks or even months after installation. The first four screws should be installed in the sequence shown (fig. 2) to minimize the possiblility of glass breakage. Avoid the use of hammers on Clip windows, as this may cause breakage of the frame and/or clip mechanism.
  • 3. The seal provided should keep moisture out; however, due to inconsistencies of some door skins, always check to ensure there is a proper seal between the window frame and door panel. In some cases, an extra bit of caulking may be necessary.
